We’re Hiring: Executive Producer

JAR Audio is looking for a seasoned Executive Producer to produce original podcasts for a financial services brand.

WHO WE ARE:

We’re JAR Audio and we create audio with brands that listeners love, connect with and share. We produce original podcasts for brands to elevate dialogue and drive results. Some of our recent clients include Expedia, Lululemon, YVR, and Royal Bank of Canada.

We take an audience-first approach. We believe that podcasts are a perfect medium for a brand to engage with a new or current audience. We collaborate with our clients to uncover who their podcast audience is, what they care about, and how they want to show up in the world. We root our podcasts in this strategy in order to deliver value.

WHO YOU ARE:

JAR Audio is looking for an Executive Producer to work closely with our creative director, and the host of the podcast. We are looking for someone experienced in audio storytelling, with a deep knowledge of economics, business, and technology. The candidate must have curiosity about the future Canadian economy, and the skillset to tell entertaining, dramatically compelling, and informative stories in a captivating way. We are looking for someone with a track record covering stories or creating content related to the Canadian economy, innovative technologies, and business.

  • You will be responsible for managing the planning, creation, and regular delivery of a podcast series for a Canadian financial services brand.

  • In this full-time position, you will work closely with the host, audio editor, project manager, and marketers (both internally at JAR and with our client) across the series.

  • You’ll be part of the team that develops the tone and style of the podcast and work closely on the episode research, scripts, and mixes.

  • You will attend daily client standup meetings to gain insights into what’s going on in the organization, using this intel to plan for what (and who) should be included in the podcast.

  • You will “own” the series end to end – from initial concept development to execution and beyond.

  • You will provide notes and guidance for audio editors on your team.

  • You will write and edit all scripts – both at the high ‘outline’ level and specific line edits/revisions, as needed.

  • You will pitch ideas and concepts for the show.

  • You will manage the production process. This can include: working with JAR’s operations department to set the show calendar, work back schedule, directing the host and guests in recording sessions, providing mix notes to sound designers, working with marketing to provide content that can help with successful show promotion.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Experience as an Executive Producer, Economist, or Business Journalist.

  • An intimate understanding of the Canadian economy, technology disruption, and innovation.

  • Economic reporting and communications experience.

  • Audio scripting ability (writing, editing).

  • You’re able to perform in-depth research on various subjects and produce compelling audio content.

  • Audio editing experience is an asset.
